*OLIVER TWIST*
The story begins on a rainy night, and lord Brownlow is yelling at his daughter Agatha. He is trying to get her out of the house, as she is not married but about to give birth. He claims it would bring great shame to the family. After being shooed out, Agatha finds a workhouse and demands to be let inside. Yelling and knocking on the door. She is met by an older woman who scolds her for not being married, but lets her inside nonetheless. Calling for a woman named Sally (who is actually an alcoholic) to deliver the child and register him. After giving birth, Agatha sadly passes away. He is named by Mr. Bumble, the owner of the workhouse. The young, orphaned baby gets named Oliver Twist. He is raised inside the workhouse, until one evening when he was very hungry and asked for more soup. This causes him to get locked inside the coal cellar, but is freed by Sammy who gives him a penny and frees him from the workhouse. After escaping, he ends up in London. There, he meets a boy named Artful Dodger. Dodger leads him back to his “home”, that’s is a thief-gang hideout led by a Jewish man named Fagin. Whilst out robbing with Dodger, Oliver gets caught by the police and brought back to lord Brownlow, where he finds out he is actually from an extremely wealthy family. After giving Oliver some new clothing, he gives him some money and sends him back to London to return a book. He is caught by the gang again, and stays with them. One day, Artful is sent out to follow Nancy – the lover of Bill Sykes, another member of the gang. For the task, Fagin pays him a guinea. The young boy finds out Nancy had snitched on them to lord Brownlow. For this reason, Bill brutally beats the poor lady to death the next night. Bill is caught by the police, and murdered by a gunshot to his head. Soon after, the police get their hands on Fagin. Deciding to hang him in public. Fagin recites Oliver’s life story as his final words. Oliver lives a good life afterwards, but it is unknown what had happened with Artful Dodger.
